OTHER: The Desert Rose is an African native that, despite its common name, is actually from tropical climate conditions rather than desert conditions. These small trees are popular because of their large caudices (swollen trunk bases), large showy brightly colored flowers, and evergreen succulent leaves that only grow at the tips of the branches as the flowers do. The flowers come in various shapes and colors, and some are fragrant. The blooms are somewhat similar to those of Plumeria, and are often up to 3” wide. They are very tropical and exotic looking and come in such a stunning array of color combinations, they are almost unbelievably gorgeous! They are deer resistant, and in cooler climates, the Desert Rose can be over wintered indoors or grown as a houseplant. These plants are very long lived and can live to be hundreds of years old. Many believe this to be a great bonsai specimen. The sap of the plants is poisonous if ingested, so use caution.

Decent germination rate. Unsure of the colors but they do grow.

Well packed and shipping was quick. I especially love the free seed mix for pollinators! Save the bees! Update: after soaking seeds in water for 24 hours, and placing seed tray on a heatmat at 26c, 5 out of 15 seeds have sprouted after 3 days(!) Update 2: after 2 weeks 9 out of 15 have sprouted.

Seller is okay, prompt shipping and delivery. However as another user mentioned recently, these seeds have a bad germination rate. Out of 15 seeds, I also only had 3 germinate (~20%). I bought seeds from another seller and had 90% germination rate. I brought this up to seller but he said can't guarantee all seeds will germinate. I still feel like the seeds I received were from an older batch.

Of all the seeds I bought, I'm having the most difficulty getting these to grow. The first five seeds, I followed the instructions on the package. The next four I soaked for 24hrs as another reviewer mentioned and got 3/4 of those to germinate. I'm now trying another round by following instructions found on the internet from a grower, hoping for more. Of the three that did grow, two are happy, healthy plants. The other is a runt and is slow-growing but is getting there. Because there are so many different suggestions on how to germinate desert rose, I assume it's a user error and not a seed error. The attached picture is of the two which are doing well, though one has dark leaves and the other light.
